Sausage meat pie.

Ingredient’s for your sausage meat pie.

  • Sausage meat 400g.
  • Basil, Parsley, Sage. (½ tsp. of each dried herb).
  • Salt and black pepper to taste.
  • 1 tbsp. Plain flour.
  • 2 medium size potatoes cubed.
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced.
  • ½ cup of peas.
  • 1 large carrot cubed.
  • ½ medium sized onion chopped.
  • Ready made crust pastry.

 

Method.

Roll out the pastry and layer the bottom of your dish 9″.

In a small pan put a small amount (1 tbsp.) of olive oil on a medium heat, gently fry for 2 minutes the onion, garlic and the dried herbs.

In a large bowl place all the ingredients except the pastry and mix to combine completely.

Now place the mixed sausage meat into your pastry lined dish and level out.

Roll out your pastry to cover the pie.  With a little milk use a small pastry brush and coat around the top edge of the pastry in the dish. Take your rolled out pastry and lay over the top. Trim of excess pastry using a knife, then gently press around the edge of the pastry to seal it.

If you have a little pastry left over make a few little decoration to place  on top.

Using the brush give the top of your pie a quick brush of milk to help give a lovely colour to the pastry. Make a couple of small slits on the pastry top to allow steam to escape and stop the pie from bursting at the edges.

Place in pre-heated oven at 190c for 45-50 minutes. Middle shelf.
