Honey and Mustard Ham

Honey and Mustard Ham, nice cold in a sandwich or hot with mash and veg.

Preparation time 20 to 30 minutes, cooking time approximately 1 hour 45 minutes.

Honey and Mustard Ham
One of my favourites.

Ingredients for your Honey and Mustard Ham.

  • Approximately 450 g Smoked Gammon.
  • Dried Oregano. 1/4 tsp.
  • Bay Leaves. 2
  • Cracked black pepper.  1/2 tsp.
  • Dried Sage.  1/4 tsp.
  • Dried Basil.  1/4 tsp
  • Crushed fresh Garlic. 2 cloves.
  • Chopped 1/4 small onion.
  • Pinch of salt.
  • Dozen Cloves.
  • Honey. 2 tbs.
  • Yellow Mustard. 1 tbs.

Method for Honey and Mustard Ham.

Roughly chop the onion, crush the garlic. Rinse the Gammon under cold running water, place into large pan, add the above ingredient’s excluding the Cloves, Honey and Mustard.  Add boiling water until Gammon is covered.

(Hot water from the kettle to save time boiling from scratch on the stove).

Allow to simmer for around 1 hour and 15 minutes.

After simmering take the Gammon from the pan place onto baking tray. Insert the cloves into the Gammon around the outside. Mix the mustard and honey together in a small bowl. Then with a small pastry brush coat the Gammon with the mix of honey and mustard.

Honey & Mustard Ham

Place the Gammon into a pre-heated oven at 190C for 30 minutes. After the cooking time take from the oven and leave to cool and rest. Remove the cloves and slice.

Ham ready.
