Fish Pie

Fish pie. On a budget

 

 

Ingredients for Fish pie.

  • 5 medium size potatoes.
  • Salt and ground black pepper.
  • 100g. Butter
  • 400ml. Milk.
  • 1/2 tsp. Dried parsley.
  • 1/2 tsp. Dried Dill.
  • 1/2 tsp. Dried Sage.
  • 2 cloves garlic finely chopped.
  • 1/4 large onion finely chopped.
  • 2 tbsp. Plain flour.
  • Two Handfuls of mixed diced vegetables.
  • 250g. Pollock or cod.
  • 150g. Mature cheddar cheese grated.

 

Finely chop the onion and garlic, gently fry in a little butter with the herbs for 2 or 3 minutes.

Peel, boil potatoes until soft enough to mash.

Mash the potatoes with 1/2 the butter & a little salt & pepper.

Break the fish fillets up into small chunks.

Put into the bottom of your oven dish with the mixed vegetables & the onion & garlic.

Remaining butter place in a pan melt & slowly add the flour to combine.

Now slowly add the milk stirring continuously to combine making a white sauce.

Now combined add into this 1/4 of the cheese stirring to

Melt and combine.

Add the sauce into the dish.

Lay and level the mashed potato over the top then layer the remaining cheese on top.

Place in preheated oven 180c 35-40 minutes.
